Job summary

TriStar Horizon Medical Center in Tennessee seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join the operating room team. The CST assists the OR nurse, maintains sterile technique, and prepares instruments to support patient care from infancy through adulthood. Cross-training to Endoscopy may occur to aid department needs.

The CST participates in performance improvement activities and works within Horizon's mission and values to deliver compassionate care.

Qualifications

• CST certification required.
• Vocation/technical training completed at a vocational school.
• BCLS certification required within 30 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Assist OR nurse in intra-operative care.
• Prepare and organize sterile instruments and patient care materials.
• Cross-train to Endoscopy and support departmental goals.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Summary

The Certified Surgical Technician (CST) is an active member of the nursing team in the Operating Room. The CST functions under the direct supervision of the OR nurse. He/she is responsible for assisting the OR nurse in assessing the needs of the patients, infancy through life span, and for organizing and planning care sufficient to meet identified needs during the intra-operative phase, by performing technical duties as assigned. The surgical scrub tech will be cross-train/oriented to Endoscopy. The CST may be asked to precept/mentor other individuals within their realm of expertise.

Participates in Performance Improvement activities to assure continuous Quality Improvement. Maintains appropriate awareness when dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and all other customers. Promotes a supportive, teamwork-oriented environment. Fulfills departmental responsibilities with the long-range plan, mission, vision and values of Horizon

• Vocational School Graduate
• Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
