Job summary

St. Luke's University Health Network seeks a skilled Surgical Technologist to join our operating rooms across multiple Allentown-area campuses. You will scrub, pass instruments, and maintain sterile technique for various surgical cases.

Certification required at hire; NCCT or NBSTSA options accepted. New grads must certify within six months. On-the-job training lasts ~1.5 years; physical requirements include lifting and standing for extended periods.

Qualifications

• Certification as Surgical Technologist required; NCCT or NBSTSA accepted.
• New graduates must obtain certification within 6 months.
• On-the-job training about 1.5 years with orientation.

Responsibilities

• Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure.
• Scrubs, gowns, and gloves self and team members.
• Sets up sterile table with instruments and meds; ensures good working order.
• Performs counts with circulator before incision and closure.
• Assists with draping sterile field.
• Passes instruments and retractors to surgeon during procedure.
• Anticipates the needs of the surgical team.
• Maintains sterile technique throughout procedure.
• Handles surgical specimens safely.
• Handles sharps and medications per OR safety policies.
