Job summary

Lehigh Valley Health Network is seeking a Surgical Technologist to join the operating room team in the Bethlehem area. The role involves scrubbing for operative procedures, maintaining a sterile field, and assisting during surgery to anticipate the surgeon's needs.

Responsibilities include safely facilitating procedures, performing counts, preparing the OR, and cleaning between cases. The position requires adaptability, strong communication, and knowledge of sterile techniques.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Technical School Diploma in Surgical Technology (≤1 year).
• BLS - Basic Life Support (AHA).
• CST - Certified Surgical Technologist (Upon Hire).
• TS-C - Certified Tech in Surgery (Upon Hire).
• Ability to initiate, accept and adapt to constant change in a healthcare setting.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of medical and surgical supplies and sterile techniques.
• Time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures and maintains a sterile environment.
• Performs surgical counts according to policy and organizes case carts for upcoming procedures.
• Collaborates with the operating room circulator to prepare the OR and gather sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Prepares and maintains the sterile field using sterile techniques and ensures equipment is functioning properly.
• Performs in-between case cleaning turnover in the operating room suite.
