Job summary

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate in English effectively to carry out job requirements.
• Basic aseptic/sterile technique and knowledge of surgical instrumentation.
• Knowledge of healthcare concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Up-to-date knowledge of surgical instruments and supplies for surgeons.
• Regulatory knowledge and ability to follow jurisdictional laws.
• Ability to understand surgeon instructions and directions.
• Basic computer skills and MS Office proficiency.
• Strong communication, anticipatory skills, and attention to detail.
• Assembly of mechanical devices and knowledge of anatomy.
• Ability to work with multiple team members and adapt to change.
• Organizational and interpersonal skills; strong reading/writing ability.

Responsibilities

• Anticipates surgeon needs and informs circulating nurse during procedures.
• Maintains high standards for cost savings and containment.
• Pre-assembles supplies, equipment, and medications before procedures.
• Supports satisfaction activities and maintains good relationships with physicians and staff.
• Monitors aseptic technique and corrects any breaches.
• Reports environmental concerns and ensures compliance with policies.
• Supervises other team members and assists with training.
• Promotes a safe environment and responds to emergencies.
• Follows infection control practices and PPE guidelines.
• Participates in quality initiatives and supports department goals.
• Provides assistance to surgical team and manages room turnover.
