Job summary

Ascension St. John Owasso in Owasso, OK is seeking a Surgical Tech for Labor and Delivery. This full-time night role runs 7:00pm–7:00am and requires setting up delivery rooms and surgical suites with sterile instruments for both natural and operative births.

You will empower the obstetric team by anticipating needs, maintaining sterile fields, and ensuring a safe handoff from delivery to postpartum care, with opportunities for growth within Ascension’s Catholic health system.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider certification required within 1 month of hire.
• Surgical Tech credentialed from NCCT or NBSTSA prior to hire date.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Prepare the stage for a safe arrival by expertly setting up delivery rooms and surgical suites with the specialized sterile instruments needed for both natural and operative births.
• Empower the obstetric team through foresight by anticipating the surgeon’s or midwife’s needs during deliveries, ensuring a seamless flow of care during every stage of labor.
• Advocate for maternal and neonatal safety by managing the sterile field with uncompromising precision, ensuring all equipment is accounted for during the transition from delivery to postpartum care.
• Facilitate rapid-response surgical care by maintaining a constant state of readiness for emergency procedures, ensuring the team can move from a room to the OR in seconds to protect mother and baby.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• One or more of the following required:
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
