Job summary

Ascension Saint Thomas Midtown in Nashville, TN, seeks a Surgical Technician for the Obstetrics Operating Room. You will support the surgeons by preparing instruments and supplies and ensuring patient safety through meticulous sterile technique.

You will work nights or PRN, collaborating with a dedicated team to uphold high standards of care. Required credentials include BLS and NBSTSA, with education options spanning high school equivalency to an associate/technical degree and relevant

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 30 days of hire date is required.
• Surgical Tech credentialed from NBSTSA prior to hire date.
• TN Code requires 18 months of surgical technologist experience in the 3 years preceding 5/21/07 or completion by 5/21/10 if not certified.

Responsibilities

• Anticipate needed instruments and supplies for each step of the procedure and have them ready.
• Safely position and drape the patient to ensure dignity and accuracy throughout the operation.
• Maintain 100% accuracy in instrument and sponge counts to support patient safety from incision to closure.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Per Tennessee Code (TCA) 68-57-101(a), non-certified applicants must have 18 months of surgical technologist experience in the 3 years preceding 5/21/07; or began the appropriate surgical technologist training prior to 5/21/07 and completed by 5/21/10.

Education

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
