Job summary

Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, TX is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist III (CST III) to support highly complex surgical procedures and optimize operating room efficiency. The CST III leads advanced case prep, assists surgeons, mentors staff, and ensures patient safety and regulatory compliance.

The role requires CST certification, BLS, and experience in General Surgery, Urology, Eye, Gynecology, Hand, spine, and orthopedics. Full-time, days shifts, with typical 8-hour shifts.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CST accredited program and experienced in both major and minor procedures.
• CST certification required at hire; non-certified hires prior to 12/2014 exempt.
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sterile supplies and instruments for each procedure and maintain sterile field.
• Assist surgeons by providing sterile supplies and instruments; serve as primary scrub tech with independent practice.

We are seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist II (CST III), sometimes referred to as a S urgical Tech III, OR Tech III or Scrub Tech III. The Certified Surgical Technologist III (CST III) serves as an advanced surgical team member responsible for supporting highly complex surgical procedures, ensuring optimal operating room efficiency, and serving as a clinical resource for surgical staff. The CST III leads advanced case preparation, assists surgeons by maintaining a sterile field and anticipating procedural needs, mentors’ surgical technologists, and promotes best practices in patient safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

The Certified Surgical Tech III is responsible for the preparation of sterile supplies and instruments for each assigned procedure, maintaining sterile field during case and providing surgeon with sterile supplies and instruments during assigned procedures. The Certified Surgical Tech III is an employee with greater than 1 years’ experience and an employee who is proficient in the following surgical specialties: General Surgery, Urology, Eyes (cataracts), GYN, and Hand specialty in addition to, demonstrates proficiency and skill in basic spine procedures (Laminectomies), Sports Medicine, Orthopedic Total Joints: Including, complicated spinal fusion surgery (including 360 fusions), and Complicated Orthopedics Sports Medicine, Total Joints, and Joint Revisions: Complicated ACL replacement and Rotator Cuff Repairs, Revision Knee, Revision Hip, and Revision Shoulder Surgeries, as well as Total Ankle Replacements and Total Femur Replacements and Hearts. The employee will demonstrate independent practice in the role of primary scrub technician and hold a current CST to be considered for Certified Surgical Tech III.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• Graduate of a Certified Surgical Tech accredited program. (CST) training program with less than one years’ experience in a surgical setting required.
• Certified Surgical Tech (CST) Certification upon hire required and maintained for employment. a. Non-certified employees hired prior to 12/2014 are exempt from this requirement.
• Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
• Experience and Mastery, in scrubbing minor and major procedures in the generalized surgical specialties, (General, Urology, Eye (cataracts), Gynecology, and Hand Specialty, in addition to, demonstrates proficiency and skill in basic spine procedures (Laminectomies), Sports Medicine, Orthopedic Total Joints, Complicated spinal fusion surgery (including 360), and Complicated Orthopedics: Sports Medicine and Total Joints, and Joint Revisions.
