Heywood Hospital in Gardner, MA is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician (CST I) to join the Operating Room team. The 32-hour schedule includes on-call duties and weekends/holidays. The role offers a competitive wage range and comprehensive benefits.

The CST I provides support across all surgical specialties, demonstrates aseptic technique, and assists surgeons and circulating nurses. A CST program graduate with current NBSTSA certification and AHA CPR is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an approved CST program is required.
• Current MA Surgical Technician Certification (NBSTSA) required.
• AHA CPR certification required.
• Proficiency in CST duties across all surgical specialties.
• Demonstrated mature professional behaviors.

• Minimum of one year CST experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with surgical procedures and meet surgeon needs.
• Set up table, instruments, and supplies for surgery.
• Prepare supplies and instrument cards for procedures.
• Apply aseptic technique to prevent infection.
• Disinfect, sterilize, and maintain sterile field.
• Assist in skin prep and draping.
• Maintain instrument counts and room turnover.
• Ensure proper handling of specimens.
