Certified Surgical Tech at Baylor Scott & White Surgicare Garland:

• Assists in providing individualized direct patient care in accordance with site policies and guidelines under the direction of a Registered Nurse in the OR area.
• The Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team.
• Prepares and maintains supplies, instruments and equipment related to these procedures.
• Supports the philosophy, objectives and goals of the Surgery Center.
• Supports and participates in quality improvement activities.
• Experienced in the following specialties: ENT, General Surgery (Bariatrics), GI, Gynecology, Ophthalmology.

Qualifications

Education:

• Completion of an appropriate surgical technician program
• High school graduate or equivalent

Licensure/Certification:

• Certification in Surgical Technology required
• Current BLS

Required Experience:

• Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred
• 2 years’ previous clinical experience in an Operating Room environment is preferred
• General knowledge of policies & procedures specific to the Operating Room
• Strong customer service skills
• Ability to work as a team player
• Must have good manual dexterity & the ability to respond quickly to emergency situations.
• Must be conscientious, self-motivated, organized and possess the ability to multi-task.
• Must stay abreast of new developments in your chosen field.
