Job summary

MUSC Health is seeking a Surgical Technologist to serve as the scrub person, surgeon assistant, and the assistant circulator for procedures across all age groups, under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities include preparing sterile operating rooms, sterilizing equipment, stocking supplies, preparing patients for surgery, passing instruments, tracking supplies, and staying current with surgical technology and terminology to support surgeons and the patient-care team.

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of surgical technology and surgical procedures.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Passionate about patient care.
  • Graduate of a Technical College, or equivalent, with accredited Surgical Technologist curricula.
  • Surgical Technologist Certification required after 2008.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) with American Heart Association (AHA).

  • Helping provide great patient care.

The primary function of this position is as the scrub person, surgeon assistant, and the assistant circulator for all newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient procedures completed under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Schedule (PRN)

This is a PRN as-needed position. Must be available to work at least one full shift bi-weekly, as needed according to departmental demands. Work hours may vary depending on the needs of the unit.
