Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Ontario OB Department is seeking a part-time Certified Surgical Technologist to join their team for night shifts from 7pm to 7am in the Ontario unit.

You will assist with overnight cesarean sections, prepare procedures, room patients, take vitals, and support the surgical team while also performing unit clerk and CNA duties to ensure high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) by the NBSTSA or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) by the NCCT required.
• Basic Life Support for healthcare providers from AHA, ARC or Military Training Network required at hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist during overnight cesarean sections by setting up and preparing surgical procedures for physicians and staff under RN supervision.
• Provide support and communicate with surgical teams and supervisory staff.
• Room patients, set up charts, take vitals, give baby baths, stock supplies on the unit.
• Function as Unit Clerk and Certified Nursing Assistant to deliver exceptional patient care.

Position Purpose

The Ontario OB Department is hiring a part-time Certified Surgical Technologist to join their team!

This position is not only responsible for supporting surgical procedures as a CST, but also caring for patients within the unit and completing administrative duties.

• Schedule Information: This part-time, benefited position will work 24 hours per week on night shift from 7pm to 7am. Work shifts could include weekends, weekdays or holidays.

Minimum Qualifications

What You Will Do

As a CST/Obstetrics Technician, you can expect to assist when overnight c‑sections are required by providing setup and preparation of surgical procedures for physicians and surgical staff under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will also provide support and communicate directly with surgical teams and supervisory staff.

The majority of your time, you will play a critical role actively supporting our department by rooming patients, setting up charts, helping take vitals, giving baby baths, assist the floor in stocking, and also function as a Unit Clerk and C Certified Nursing Assistant to provide the exceptional patient care that Saint Alphonsus is recognized for.
