Job summary

Lifepoint Health is seeking a Certified Surgical First Assistant – First Assistant to support surgical teams in a fast-paced, in-person environment. The role focuses on optimal patient positioning, exposure, and assistance with tissue handling, hemostasis, and wound management to ensure safe procedures and efficient outcomes.

The candidate will uphold sterile technique, collaborate with surgeons and nursing staff, and contribute to a high standard of patient care.

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) credential required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire.
• Associate's degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Position patient to maximize exposure for the procedure with stabilization equipment when needed.
• Provide visualization of the operative site: tissue manipulation, retraction, suction, irrigation.
• Assist with hemostasis and body plane closure; apply dressings and secure drains.

How you'll contribute

Certified Surgical Tech (CST)- First Assistant who excels in this role:

• Positions patient to give best exposure for surgical procedure, using stabilizing equipment, when necessary, while maximizing patient comfort and safety.
• Provides visualization of the operative site using appropriate method, including manipulation of tissue and materials, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation.
• Utilizes appropriate technique to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis.
  Assists with body plane closure, application of wound dressings, and securing of drainage systems.

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate's degree preferred
• Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting certification is required.
• Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire.
