Job summary

Lifepoint Health is seeking a Certified Surgical Tech (CST) - First Assistant for our in-person roles in Hot Springs, Arkansas. This FT position supports our surgical teams by positioning patients, achieving optimal exposure, and maintaining patient safety throughout procedures.

The ideal candidate holds CSFA (NBSTSA) and BLS certification, with an education path starting from a high school diploma and preferred Associate’s degree.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate’s degree preferred.
• CSFA certification (NBSTSA) required.
• BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Positions patient to optimize exposure for surgical procedure while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Provides visualization of the operative site using appropriate technique including tissue manipulation, retraction, sponging, suctioning and irrigation.
• Assists with hemostasis and body plane closure, applies wound dressings, and secures drainage systems.

Education

How You’ll Contribute

A Certified Surgical Tech (CST) - First Assistant who excels in this role:

• Positions patient to give best exposure for surgical procedure, using stabilizing equipment, when necessary, while maximizing patient comfort and safety.
• Provides visualization of the operative site using appropriate method, including manipulation of tissue and materials, retraction, sponging, suctioning, and irrigation.
• Utilizes appropriate technique to achieve temporary and permanent hemostasis. Assists with body plane closure, application of wound dressings, and securing of drainage systems.

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate’s degree preferred
• Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting certification is required.
• Basic Life Support certification is required upon hire.
