Overview:

Sentara is hiring a Certified Surgical Assistant in Hampton, Virginia. This is a full-time opportunity with great benefits and a swing shift schedule.

The Certified Surgical Assistant (CSA/CSFA) works as a first or second assistant to the surgeon, performing specific surgical tasks under supervision. Responsibilities include assisting with equipment setup, retraction, cauterization, suturing, medication instillation, and dressing application before, during, and after surgery. Effective communication is essential for optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Assistant Program required.
• Alternatively, foreign or domestic medical school graduates may qualify if certified or credentialed as a Surgical Assistant or First Assistant by recognized boards.
• Must obtain certification within 6 months if not already certified at hire.
• Virginia licensure required for current Virginia SAs and applicants.
