Job summary

Russell Independent Schools District Wide in Flatwoods, Kentucky, seeks a Certified Substitute Teacher to cover classes on an immediate, temporary basis. The substitute reports to the principal and follows the lesson plans prepared by the absent teacher while maintaining classroom routines and behavior.

The role requires a valid Kentucky Teaching Certificate and preference for prior teaching experience. Health examination completion is required, with salary commensurate with the district

Qualifications

• Valid Kentucky Teaching Certificate.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• Alternatives to the above qualifications may be found appropriate by the Board.
• Satisfactory completion of State mandated health examination.

Responsibilities

• Reports to the building principal (school secretary) upon arrival at the school building.
• Reviews with the principal or department head all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
• Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which he is assigned.
• Teaches the lesson outlined and described in the Substitute's Teacher's Guide as prepared by the absent teacher.
• Consults with the building principal or department head before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the Substitute Teacher's Handbook.
• Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class and during lunch and recess periods.
• Reports in writing, on the form provided by the school secretary, on the day's activities at the conclusion of each teaching day.
• Follows all policies, rules and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
• Any other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or superintendent.

JOB GOAL: To enable each child to pursue his education as smoothly and completely aspossible in the absence of his/her regular teacher.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

EVALUATION:

• Performance of this job will be evaluated by the principal.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Salary commensurate with the Russell Independent Schools Substitute Salary Schedule.
