Job summary

Texas Children's Hospital is seeking a Certified Sterile Processing Technologist to support the surgical team in a fast-paced hospital environment. You will handle instruments, supplies, and equipment required during procedures, assisting the physician under the guidance of the circulating nurse.

The role requires completion of externship hours for certification, knowledge of OR instrumentation, and the ability to operate all sterilization and processing equipment independently.

Qualifications

• Completion of all externship hours required for certification.
• Knowledge of wide variety of instrumentation used in the operating room throughout the hospital.
• Ability to operate all OR sterilization and processing equipment to prioritize and organize and to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Processes decontaminated medical devices as they are received, according to established priorities, medical device IFU's and best practices.
• Processes decontaminated medical devices as they are received, according to established priorities, medical device IFU's and best practices.
• Receives instruments from the decontamination area and processes appropriately.
• Performs physical and environmental duties as designated on a routine daily basis, including but not limited to cleaning workspace/instrument room/cabinets, emptying biohazards waste, monitoring sterilizers, and checking environmental monitors.
• Completes sterilization processes.
• Performs high-level disinfection.
• Performs other duties as assigned, including other essential instrument room duties.
