Job summary

TCH Medical Center in Texas is seeking a Certified Sterile Processing Technologist to handle instruments, supplies, and equipment used during surgical procedures. You will assist the physician and perform related patient care duties as assigned by the circulating RN in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include sterilization, decontamination, instrument processing, and high-level disinfection while maintaining a clean, compliant work area.

Qualifications

• Completion of all externship hours required for certification.
• Knowledge of wide variety of instrumentation used in the operating room throughout the hospital.
• Ability to operate all OR sterilization and processing equipment to prioritize and organize and to work independently.

• Processes decontaminated medical devices as they are received, according to established priorities, medical device IFU’s and best practices.
• Receives instruments from the decontamination area and processes appropriately.
• Performs physical and environmental duties as designated on a routine daily basis, including cleaning workspace/instrument room/cabinets, emptying biohazards waste, monitoring sterilizers and environmental monitors.
• Completes sterilization processes.
• Performs high-level disinfection.
• Performs other duties as assigned, including other essential instrument room duties.
