Job summary

University of Michigan Health-West is seeking a Certified Sterile Processing Technician I for the Evening shift (Mon-Fri), 40 hours per week. Under supervision, you will decontaminate, inspect, assemble and sterilize instruments and equipment in the SPD.

You will monitor sterilizers, maintain records, and ensure accurate packing and storage. Requires certification and ability to work weekends on a rotating basis, with on-call duties as scheduled.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current Certification as Sterile Processing Technician required.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and data entry.
• Ability to read manufacturer instructions for cleaning and sterilization.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates and sorts soiled instrumentation and equipment.
• Operates washer decontaminator, cart washer, ultrasonic cleaner and sterilizers.
• Maintains daily BI and Bowie-Dick testing records.
• Assembles instrument sets according to count sheets and manufacturer instructions.
• Maintains tray accuracy with a low error rate (below 2% per month).
• Assists SPD Lead or Supervisor and OR staff as needed.
• Monitors inventory and maintains par levels.
• Keeps SPD clean and organized.
• Performs other duties and participates in continuing education opportunities.
