AtlantiCare is seeking an SPD Technician to operate sterilization and cleaning equipment and complete daily assignments in the Sterile Processing department. The role requires adherence to procedures for pre-cleaning, cleaning and preparation of surgical instruments, with emphasis on quality and safety in patient care.
The candidate should have 1–2 years of SPD experience, basic computer skills, and fluent English.
The Sterile Processing Department (SPD) Technician is responsible for the operation of all sterilization and cleaning equipment and completion of daily work assignments within the Sterile Processing department.
The Technician must be able to perform all duties and responsibilities as a Certified Sterile Processing Technician. The SPD technician is responsible to follow all established policies and procedures related to the proper pre-cleaning, cleaning, and preparation of surgical instrumentation and equipment.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Certified Registered Central Service Technician certification or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician certification recognized by NJ Department of Health required upon hire or transfer. Certified Instrument Specialist preferred. Certified Technicians are required to maintain their re-certifications annually or as required by their certifying body; (CRCST, CSPDT, or CIS) certifications.
Minimum 1-2 years experience within SPD/sterilization preferred. Basic computer skills required. Must be fluent in the English language. Based upon workload and staffing needs, must be available to work any shift as needed.
Demonstrates the ability to perform the department specific competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool. Exhibits the core behavioral competencies as listed on the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
Potential for exposure to the hazards and risk of the hospital environment, including exposure to infectious disease, blood‑borne pathogens, hazardous substances, and potential injury. Requires, extensive walking, standing and lifting. Requires the ability to push and or pull 40lbs or greater with good body mechanics.
