Job summary

Texas Children's is seeking a Lead Certified Sterile Process Technician to assist the Manager in supervising the processing of instruments and sterilization across the Hospital.

The role requires CRCST or CSPDT certification and at least two years of hospital instrument processing experience, with emphasis on ensuring QA data, staff training, and compliance with safety standards. Respiratory fit testing will be provided as part of health and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• CRCST certification or CSPDT certification required.
• Minimum of 2 years hospital instrument processing experience.

Responsibilities

• Process decontaminated medical devices according to priorities and IFUs.
• Ensure staff are trained in decontamination equipment operation.
• Receive instruments and process appropriately.
• Perform routine physical and environmental duties including cleaning workspace/instrument room/cabinets, biohazard waste handling, and monitoring sterilizers.
• Complete sterilization processes and high-level disinfection.
• Monitor Quality Assurance data.
• Ensure staffing adequacy daily, including weekends.
• Collaborate with OR coordinators, BioMed, and Supply Chain for troubleshooting/ordering instruments.
• Perform other instrument-room duties as assigned.
• Respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Processes decontaminated medical devices as they are received, according to established priorities, medical device IFU's and best practices.
• Ensures staff are trained in the operation of the decontamination equipment.
• Receives instruments from the decontamination area and processes appropriately.
• Performs physical and environmental duties as designated routinely, including cleaning workspace/instrument room/cabinets, emptying biohazards waste, monitoring sterilizers, and checking environmental monitors.
• Completes sterilization processes.
• High level disinfection.
• Monitor completion of Quality Assurance Data
• Ensure the department is adequately staffed daily, including weekends.
• Collaborate with others i.e., OR coordinators BioMed, Supply Chain, for troubleshooting/ordering instruments etc.
• Performs other duties as assigned, including other essential instrument room duties.
