Job summary

Texas Children's Hospital in Austin is seeking a Lead Certified Sterile Process Technician to assist the Manager in supervising the efficient processing of instruments and sterilization throughout the Hospital. The role requires CRCST or CSPDT certifications, HS diploma or GED, and at least 2 years of hospital instrument processing.

You will oversee decontamination, sterilization, high level disinfection, staff training, QA data, and collaboration with OR coordinators, BioMed, and Supply Chain.

• Required H.S. Diploma or GED.
• Required CRCST - Cert-Cert Reg Cent Ser TECH by The Healthcare Sterile Processing Association Or CSPDT - Cert-Sterile Proc & Dist Tech by the Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician issued by The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution

Responsibilities

• Process decontaminated medical devices according to established priorities, medical device IFU’s and best practices.
• Ensure staff are trained in the operation of the decontamination equipment.
• Receives instruments from the decontamination area and processes appropriately.
• Performs physical and environmental duties including cleaning workspace/instrument room/cabinets, biohazard waste disposal, monitoring sterilizers, and checking environmental monitors.
• Completes sterilization processes.
• Performs high level disinfection.
• Monitor completion of Quality Assurance Data.
• Ensure the department is adequately staffed daily, including weekends.
• Collaborate with OR coordinators BioMed, Supply Chain, for troubleshooting/ordering instruments.
• Performs other duties as assigned, including other essential instrument room duties.
• Respiratory fit testing will be required in compliance with safety standards.

• Ensure the department is adequately staffed daily, including weekends.
• Collaborate with others i.e., OR coordinators BioMed, Supply Chain, for troubleshooting/ordering instruments etc.
