Job summary

Qualifications

• High School or GED is required.
• 1 year of related experience.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification required.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and assembles surgical instruments, equipment, trays and packs.
• Fills surgery case carts from predetermined listings; may deliver case carts to surgical floor.
• Identifies and reports supply, equipment, and procedure problems.
• Assists in the orientation and continuing education of lower-level Sterile Processing Technicians.
• Maintains established departmental standards by adhering to policies and procedures, contributing to quality assurance initiatives.
• Render used items clean and decontaminated manually or mechanically by following established policies and procedures in the decontamination area for instruments, supplies, carts and equipment.
• Participates in achieving departmental sterilization objectives by following policies and procedures related to assembly, inspection, sterilization, storage, and proper handling of instrument trays, supplies, and equipment.
• Develops and maintains expert knowledge of surgical service, sterile process, or instrument classification.
• Collaborates with other Sterile Processing Departments within the organization to address staffing challenges.
