Job summary

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth in Illinois is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to join our faith-based health system. The shift is full-time, 10:45am-7:15pm, with rotating weekends and holidays, and a sign-on bonus up to 3k.

You will maintain records, operate equipment, decontaminate, ensure safety standards, train new staff, and collaborate with the surgical team to ensure timely availability of sterile instruments.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in English required.
• Experience with sterilization standards.
• Knowledge of surgical instrumentation.
• Infection control techniques and medical terminology.
• Basic computer skills.
• Graduate of an accredited Sterile Processing or Surgical Tech program.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of cross-contamination prevention and infection control.
• Ability to adapt to change and work under stress.
• Ability to lead others.

Responsibilities

• Maintain records of sterilization activities and inventory.
• Operate sterilization equipment and inspect instruments.
• Decontaminate instruments and containers per IFUs.
• Count instrument sets and adjust per standards.
• Maintain inventory levels for case carts.
• Conduct QA audits of peers.
• Collaborate with surgical team for timely sterilization.
• Monitor sterilization processes for safety compliance.
• Troubleshoot sterilization equipment.
• Train new staff on procedures.
• Handle and dispose of biohazardous materials.
