Qualifications

• One year of experience as a surgical sterilization tech; CRCST or CST certification may substitute for one year.
• CRCST certification by HSPA within one year of hire as a condition of continued employment in this job classification.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, clean, assemble and test instrumentation for proper functioning.
• Assist with teaching of new hires and act as resource person for other staff and units.
• Perform decontamination, inspection, cleaning, assembling and packaging of medical/surgical materials to ensure sterile supply.
• Prepare trays and specialty carts for designated areas and operate instrument tracking systems.
• Select appropriate sterilization materials and equipment; maintain inventory including documentation of usage, issuing, receiving and recording.
