Job summary

Children's Hospital Colorado is seeking an Instrument/Sterile Processing Technician Certified to ensure safe decontamination, reprocessing and maintenance of surgical instruments, endoscopes, and patient care equipment. The role includes operating sterilizers, supporting decontamination and instrument handling, and providing orientation to junior staff in a collaborative SPD environment.

The position starts January 2027, is full-time, 40 hours/week, with shift 3p-11p, Monday-Friday and rotating

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• One year of experience in sterile processing.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and assembles surgical instruments, equipment, trays and packs.
• Fills surgery case carts from predetermined listings; may deliver case carts to surgical floor.
• Identifies and reports supply, equipment, and procedure problems.
• Assists in the orientation and continuing education of lower-level Sterile Processing Technicians, fostering collaboration.
• Maintains departmental standards by adhering to policies and contributing to quality assurance.
• Render used items clean and decontaminated manually or mechanically following decontamination policies.
• Participates in sterilization objectives by following assembly, inspection, sterilization, storage policies.
• Develops and maintains expert knowledge of surgical service and instrument classification.
• Collaborates with other Sterile Processing Departments to address staffing challenges.
