Job Description
The purpose of the Yellowstone Club SnowSports Instructor is to provide ski instruction to members ages 2 to 99+ years old.
Essential Duties And Functions
- Explain and demonstrate technical ski concepts in a safe, fun, and professional manner using a variety of interactive teaching methods based on age, learning style, and ability of the student within the guidelines of Yellowstone Club Snowsports School and PSIA.
- Teach a wide variety of lessons from first‑time skier’s to advanced students and everything in between.
- Set lesson plans based on Members and/or guests needs.
- Summarize with students at the end of the lesson, including reviewing skills worked on and progress made.
- Uphold the highest levels of guest safety on varied terrain in high altitude, with varying winter weather conditions.
- Ensure that students are matched to appropriate skier/snowboarding skill level and work with supervisors/managers to make appropriate changes when necessary.
- Help with completion of other mountain tasks, including but not limited to set up and tear down of on‑mountain props and building and installing interactive on‑mountain content.
- Actively participate in our Yellowstone Club Training program to meet required training and PSIA event participation requirements.
- Maintain current and active membership in PSIA.
- Read and understand all safety and operating policies and procedures; ask a supervisor/manager for clarification if needed.
- Assist in cleaning of locker room and other shared areas.
Pay
- This role typically pays between $23.00 and $45.00 per hour. Actual pay will be dependent on experience and certification.
- Automatic gratuity from $54.00 to $187.00 depending on the product being taught is included on each lesson provided to Membership.
- Teaching wage and training/base wages for qualified roles.
Hiring Requirements
- Current PSIA Member with a minimum of PSIA Level 1, Children’s Specialist 1.
- Two seasons of instructing experience.
- Must be available to work winter break in December, Presidents Weekend, and Spring Break.
- Strong Intermediate to Advanced Skier.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to kneel, stand, lift, bend, and ski for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to withstand variable outdoor conditions including but not limited to snow, ice, rain, warm and cold temperatures.
- Must be able to lift 25-50 lbs.
The position offered is a seasonal position located in Big Sky, Montana.
