Huntington Ingalls Industries, Newport News Shipbuilding division is seeking a Sheet Metal Worker to fabricate, assemble and install sheet metal components for aircraft carriers, submarines and other surface ships. The role includes training in basic sheet metal and tack welding, with a clear path from trainee to skilled craftsman.

The job requires a certificate or diploma in Sheet Metal or a closely related field, willingness to undergo background checks, and the ability to work outdoors in all

Qualifications

• Must be willing to undergo a background investigation and drug screen.
• Must be able to pass physical agility test.
• Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds.
• Must be able to work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble and install sheet metal components for aircraft carriers, submarines and ships.
• Follow detailed technical work documents and procedures.
• Learn and perform basic sheet metal/tack welding and related training provided by the department.
