Job description

Customer Experience

Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer issues and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience.

Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy, etc.) and Walgreens service traits (e.g., offering help proactively, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied, etc.).

Develops strong relationships with most valuable customers.

Operations

Under the supervision of the pharmacist, assists in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy. Reviews and complies with the Walgreens Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.

Performs duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions. Assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.

Reports prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adheres to company policies and procedures regarding pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.

Strictly adheres to Walgreens policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription activities.

Responsible for registering all related sales on the assigned cash register, collecting and handling cash as required. Assists customers in locating products in the OTC aisle when possible.

Handles telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention, including calls to physicians.

Processes manual claims for third-party prescription services in a timely manner and performs other clerical duties as assigned.

Leads inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceuticals. Maintains knowledge of asset protection techniques and files claims for overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.

Supports pharmacy financial, customer service, and inventory performance analysis and review of Rx KPIs with store management.

May assist in administering clinical services, including collecting and labeling samples from patients, and coordinating clinical services with healthcare providers.

Builds and maintains relationships with the local medical community through detailing and outreach efforts.

Supports the execution of the Pickup program.

Ensures the pharmacy area is well-stocked, clean, and orderly.

Coaches pharmacy technicians and cashiers to improve process efficiency.

Complies with all company policies and maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.

Completes special assignments and other tasks as needed.

Training & Personal Development

Maintains PTCB or ExCPT certification and completes required training and continuing education.

Stays informed about healthcare and pharmacy developments.

Basic Qualifications

• PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
• At least one year of pharmacy technician experience in retail or hospital settings.
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Walgreens experience preferred.
• Basic math skills for counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
• Basic PC skills, including starting, shutting down, and switching between programs.
• Knowledge of store inventory control is a plus.
