Job summary

The Stepping Stones Group is seeking a Certified School Nurse (CSN) for a contracted, school-based placement in Sonora, CA for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a full-time Building Nurse role supporting a local K-12 district with nursing services.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• Graduate of an accredited ADN or BSN program.
• Valid CA Education Specialist credential required.
• Current BLS CPR/AED certification.
• Knowledge of nurse delegation practices and state scope-of-practice regulations.
• Ability to work independently and exercise clinical judgment.
• Experience working with a pediatric population.

Responsibilities

• Provide first aid and manage everyday illnesses (headaches, stomachaches, injuries).
• Monitor students with chronic conditions and manage routine medications per orders.
• Verify medical orders, document medication administration, and safely administer meds.
• Act as lead responder to medical emergencies on campus.
• Train staff on emergency protocols and equipment use.
• Develop/update IHPs, IEPs, and 504 Plans related to medical conditions; attend meetings as needed.
• Collaborate with parents and school staff regarding medical needs.
• Conduct or assist with health screenings (vision, hearing, BMI, blood pressure).
• Delegate and supervise nursing tasks per state regulations.

Skills

Active RN license in California

Graduate of ADN or BSN program

CA Education Specialist credential
