Job summary

Maxim Healthcare Services, Inc. is seeking a School Nurse to provide direct nursing care for students in a school setting. The role involves chronic-condition management, medication administration, and health assessments in compliance with policy.

The nurse will develop IHPs/ECPs, participate in IEP/504 meetings, and maintain comprehensive documentation while collaborating with families and healthcare providers. CPR is required, English proficiency essential, and BSN preferred.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in applicable state.
• CSN credential or willingness to obtain.
• BSN degree preferred.
• Minimum two years school nurse experience preferred.
• CPR certification valid.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in English.
• Must meet all federal, state and local requirements.
• Technological proficiency for mobile documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to students, including chronic condition management.
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders and school policy.
• Conduct health assessments, screenings, and evaluations.
• Develop and implement IHPs and ECPs.
• Participate in IEP/504 meetings as healthcare representative.
• Maintain accurate documentation per guidelines.
• Serve as liaison between school, family and healthcare providers.
• Promote health education and wellness among students and staff.
• Respond to health emergencies and provide first aid/triage.
• Ensure compliance with immunization and disease control laws.

Hourly Pay: $50 - $56.50 / per hour

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care to students, including chronic condition management (e.g., diabetes, asthma, seizure disorders).
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments per physician orders and school policy.
• Conduct health assessments, screenings, and evaluations.
• Develop and implement Individualized Healthcare Plans (IHPs) and Emergency Care Plans (ECPs).
• Participate in IEP/504 meetings as the healthcare representative.
• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with state, federal, and district guidelines.
• Serve as a liaison between the school, family, healthcare providers, and community agencies.
• Promote health education and wellness among students and staff.
• Respond to health-related emergencies and provide first aid/triage.
• Ensure compliance with immunization and communicable disease control laws/regulations.

Qualifications:

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
• Certified School Nurse (CSN) credential (or willingness to obtain, if applicable).
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Minimum two years of experience as a school nurse preferred.
• Valid CPR certification.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in English.
• Must meet all federal, state, local, and contract requirements.
• Technological proficiency, including mobile devices for documentation.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
