Job summary

HCA Florida Aventura Hospital is seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist for a PRN role. You will perform patient assessments, administer respiratory therapies, assist with artificial airways, and initiate and monitor mechanical ventilation.

You will also respond to emergencies and support transport of ventilated patients. The role requires multiple certifications (CRT, ACLS, BCLS, PALS) and an Associate degree.

Qualifications

• CRT certification or licensed Respiratory Therapist required.
• ACLS certification or instructor required within 6 months of start date.
• BCLS certification or instructor required within 30 days of start date.
• PALS certification or instructor required within 6 months of start date.
• Neonate Resuscitation certification must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date.
• Associate degree or vocational school diploma required.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document patient assessment including breath sounds and cuff pressure.
• Administer respiratory care therapies such as oxygen delivery and chest physiotherapy.
• Assist with placement of artificial airways and manage mechanical ventilation.
• Monitor patient response and notify providers as needed.
• Assist with transport of ventilator-dependent patients.
• Respond to emergent situations ensuring airway integrity and ventilation.

Job Summary And Qualifications

What you will do in this role:

• You will perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. You will conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
• You will administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
• You will assist with placement of artificial airways. You will initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
• You will monitor patient for therapeutic response. You will notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
• You will assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients.
• You will respond to emergent patient situations and ensure airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.

What qualifications you will need:

• Neonate Resuscitate must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
• (CRT-State) Certified Respiratory Therapist
• Advanced Cardiac Life Spt, or ACLS Instructor must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
• Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt, or PALS Instructor must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
• Associate Degree, or Vocational School Graduate
