Job summary

Texas Rehabilitation Hospital of Arlington, operated jointly with Lifepoint Health, Texas Health Resources and Methodist Hospital System, seeks a Certified Respiratory Therapist. The role supports an interdisciplinary team in Arlington, TX, delivering respiratory care across a 40-bed inpatient rehab unit.

The schedule covers four 9-hour shifts from 11am to 8pm, with comprehensive benefits and career growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy.
• Current state Respiratory Therapist license.
• Current CPR certification (BLS required; ACLS per unit requirements or preferred).
• Three (3)+ years of cardiopulmonary/respiratory care experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of oxygen delivery methods and equipment; monitors for and addresses potential side effects.
• Administers ordered respiratory therapy treatments; understands indications, dosing parameters, and possible adverse effects.
• Sets up and monitors mechanical ventilators; performs airway management and tracheal suctioning.
• Assesses pain that interferes with function or rehabilitation participation and notifies the physician for intervention.
• Performs arterial punctures to obtain ABG samples; recognizes potential complications.
• Performs EKGs, documents results and routes to providers.
• Collaborates with physicians, nursing and rehabilitation staff to coordinate care and optimize outcomes.
• Maintains accurate documentation and adheres to infection prevention and safety practices.
• Maintains equipment readiness; follows department policies and quality improvement activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

How You'll Contribute

A Certified Respiratory Therapist who excels in this role:

• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of oxygen delivery methods and equipment; monitors for and addresses potential side effects.
• Administers ordered respiratory therapy treatments; understands indications, dosing parameters, and possible adverse effects.
• Sets up and monitors mechanical ventilators; performs associated critical-care duties such as airway management and tracheal suctioning.
• Assesses pain that interferes with function or rehabilitation participation and notifies the physician for appropriate intervention.
• Performs arterial punctures to obtain ABG samples; recognizes potential complications and contraindications.
• Performs EKGs, documents/reports results per department procedure, routes to requesting providers, and files reports appropriately.
• Collaborates with physicians, nursing and rehabilitation staff to coordinate care and optimize outcomes.
• Ensures accurate, timely documentation in the medical record and adheres to infection prevention and safety practices.
• Maintains equipment readiness; follows department policies, competency requirements, and quality improvement activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
