Job summary

Uintah Basin Medical Center in Roosevelt, UT is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist for a full-time, on-site role. The CRNA will deliver anesthesia care in a team-care model, working with surgeons and the anesthesia team to plan and execute anesthesia for procedures.

The candidate should hold a Utah CRNA license, NBCRNA certification, and current ACLS/PALS. Responsibilities include preoperative assessment, equipment readiness, intraoperative management, and postoperative recovery

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the surgeon regarding the anesthesia plan.
• Participates in preoperative assessment and care of patients, including assisting in exam and assessment, obtaining informed consent, ordering preoperative studies/labs.
• Ensures availability and readiness of equipment, supplies, and medications for the planned anesthetic; inserts invasive lines as needed.
• Selects, administers, and monitors anesthetics and fluids to maintain homeostasis.
• Documents anesthesia-related data and patient responses in the medical record.
• Stays with the patient until transfer of care to a qualified provider; participates in postoperative recovery as needed.
• Performs postoperative assessments and documentation in the EMR daily as needed.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient information and uses hospital resources cost-effectively.
• Attends Peer Review and other required meetings.

Description

Job Summary

CRNA has responsibility and accountability for assuring the delivery of quality anesthesia care for patients in accordance with individual patient needs, physicians' orders, hospital and departmental policies, within a team-care model. This is an exempt position.

• Collaborates with the surgeon regarding the anesthesia plan.
• Participates in preoperative assessment and care of patients, including but not limited to assisting in the exam and assessment, obtaining informed consent, ordering/administering pre-medications, and requesting preoperative studies/labs.
• Ensures the availability and readiness of equipment, supplies, and medications to perform the planned anesthetic. Performs and documents insertion of invasive lines as needed (intravenous and arterial).
• Selects, obtains, and administers the necessary anesthetics and fluids needed to maintain homeostasis.
• Documents results for patient record, including all relevant assessment, care, and monitoring data.
• Remains in constant attendance of the patient until the responsibility of care is transferred to another qualified healthcare provider, in accordance with the transfer of care protocol. Participates in the postoperative recovery of patients as necessary, including management of fluids, pain, and ventilation.
• Performs and documents in the Hospital EMR postoperative assessments daily, as needed.
• Maintains confidentiality of all information accessed on the job.
• Utilizes appropriate Hospital resources as needed and in a cost-effective manner.
• Attend Peer Review and other meetings as required.

Professional Requirements:

• Knowledge of a wide variety of anesthetics and procedures, including spinal, intravenous, regional, and other techniques. Understands application of peripheral venous and radial arterial catheters. Stays current with new anesthesia trends.
• Knowledge of guidelines for collecting, disposing of, and working with contaminated or possibly infectious materials and specimens.
• Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, biochemistry, chemistry, physics, and pharmacology.

Regulatory Requirements

• Current Utah State License as a CRNA.
• Is awaiting initial certification or is currently certified by the National Board of Certification or Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
• Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the limits required by Uintah Basin Medical Center.
• Demonstrates current competency in the clinical responsibilities of a CRNA.
• PALS and ACLS certification.
