Job description

Job Summary: Provides anesthesia care in the operating room to support surgical, diagnostic, and therapeutic procedures under the supervision of an anesthesiologist. Responsible for preoperative evaluation, postoperative follow-up, and acting as a patient advocate and liaison between patients, families, and physicians.

Job Duties

1. Anesthetizes patients.
2. Selects drugs for anesthesia and emergency treatment.
3. Induces and maintains anesthesia.
4. Monitors the patient and adjusts medications as needed.
5. Treats variants of anesthesia.
6. Communicates patient's status with the surgical team.
7. Assesses patient status, interprets hemodynamic waveforms and equipment status.
8. Maintains patient stability during all phases of anesthesia.
9. Conducts thorough preoperative evaluation, including chart review.
10. Instills confidence in patients.
11. Prepares the operating room with necessary equipment, monitors, and drugs.
12. Performs diagnostic equipment checks.
13. Coordinates with staff to ensure a safe environment, including positioning and troubleshooting.
14. Responds to emergencies, maintains airway management.
15. Provides anesthesia support in assigned areas.
16. Accurately documents in patient EMR.
17. Transports patients safely, monitors airway, and provides hand-off reports.
18. Acts as a mentor and preceptor to peers and staff.

Work is performed in a clinical environment. The role requires compliance with organizational policies and additional department-specific competencies.

Position Details

Education: Master's Degree in Nursing (Required)

Experience and Certifications: Licensed Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania), Basic Life Support Certification
