Job summary

Center for Human Development Inc. is seeking a full-time Certified Recovery Mentor - Transitional Age (12-30) to provide one-on-one pro-social guidance and support for individuals with recovery goals.

The CRM works with treatment teams to promote recovery and helps clients access community resources and services. This role involves working across a developmental age range (12-30) as needed, with evenings and weekends required, and may travel locally to support youth and young adults in recovery.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of High School Graduate (equivalent considered).
  • Ability to understand and implement instructional methods while demonstrating flexibility, creativity and autonomy.
  • Ability to work with team, other professionals, para professionals and lay persons.
  • Have familiarity with community resources for adults/youth and adults/youth in recovery.
  • Must have a history of substance use recovery, with a minimum of the two previous years of sobriety and maintained abstinence.
  • CADC I or ability to obtain CADC I within two years of employment.
  • Possess MHACBO certification as a Certified Recovery Mentor preferred.
  • Have completed or be willing to complete trainings specific to the position within a reasonable time from the date of hire.
  • Must possess a valid Oregon Driver’s license and be insurable for client service purposes.
  • Must pass all criminal history background investigations as required by ORS 181.536-181.537 and in accordance with OAR 407-007-0200-407-007-0370, and pass a standard drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Primarily provides 1:1 pro-social guidance and support for individuals consistent with self-directed treatment goals as documented in the Individual Service and Support Plan.
  • Work with peers in the community and at locations such as schools, the county jail and hospital.
  • Engage in purposeful relationships to build stronger, healthier individuals and communities.
  • Conduct assessments, treatment plans, counseling sessions and groups when appropriate.
  • Assist peers to access community, including employment, appointments, social activities, and shopping.
  • Assist peers with activities of daily living (housekeeping, hygiene, meal preparation, shopping, light moving).
  • Assist peers with opportunities to socialize and receive support.
  • Provide resource and referral information including employment, therapy services and benefits.
  • Assist peers to reduce stress, manage symptoms, and improve self-advocacy skills.
  • Assist peers to feel supported and safe during personal crisis.
  • Maintain punctual and regular attendance; work flexible hours and travel locally/regionally as appropriate.
  • Comply with CHD policies, federal and state laws and ethics requirements.

Job description

Center for Human Development Inc. is seeking a full-time Certified Recovery Mentor - Transitional Age (12-30). Certified Recovery Mentor (CRM) is a direct service position working with transitional age (16-30) clients engaged in chemical dependency therapy. Depending on client need, CRM may work across the developmental age range. The position works with treatment teams to promote recovery and help achieve identified goals of recovery. The CRM cultivates the consumer’s ability to make informed independent choices and assists in gaining information as well as support from the community for the consumer. This position also works as .2 FTE part of a transdisciplinary team to provide supportive, community-based services to youth and young adults ages 12-30 who meet criteria for the EASA program.

  • Must maintain punctual and regular work attendance; work flexible hours and travel locally and regionally as appropriate (i.e. attend trainings and meetings).
  • Complies with CHD’s policies and procedures, Federal and State of Oregon laws pertinent to the position (which are numerous and various and include regular supervision requirements and ethics adherence).
  • Requires evening and weekend hours.
