Job summary

Atlas Medical Consultants in Bakersfield, CA seeks a skilled Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) to perform diagnostic PFTs, supporting physicians in managing asthma, COPD, and other respiratory diseases.

Must hold NBRC CPFT certification (RPFT welcome), an associate degree in respiratory care, and current BLS; state licensure is required where applicable. New graduates with strong potential are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Technical mastery of pulmonary physiology, testing protocols, and ATS guidelines.
• Excellent patient coaching and communication to guide breathing maneuvers.
• Strong attention to detail to identify test artifacts, suboptimal effort, or equipment issues.

Responsibilities

• Administer comprehensive pulmonary function tests including spirometry, lung volumes, DLCO, and bronchial challenges.
• Instruct and support patients to maximize effort during testing in a compassionate setting.
• Perform daily calibrations, quality control, and troubleshoot PFT equipment per ATS/ERS standards.
• Accurately record patient data and test results in the EMR for physician interpretation.
• Maintain safety and infection control during testing.
