Qualifications

• Minimum five years’ experience in coding, abstracting and charge capture.
• ICD-9 and ICD-10 proficiency.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Sound organizational and time management skills.
• Microsoft Word/Excel skills.
• Experience with government or managed care enrollment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review records to abstract and code clinical data using standard classifications.
• Enter charges from documentation to ensure services are billed.
• Document coding discrepancies.
• Conduct record reviews for ICD-9/ICD-10 compliance and governmental guidelines.
• Perform quarterly chart audits and educate staff on audit results.
• Provide ongoing education on documentation language and terminology.
• Review and modify policies to improve professional coding.
• Maintain communication with leadership to reflect care for maximum reimbursement
