Job summary

Clearview Cancer Institute, the north Alabama outpatient oncology/hematology clinic, seeks a Certified Professional Coder to input diagnostic codes for medical services and ensure regulatory compliance. You will translate physicians’ diagnoses into codes and review records to determine patient conditions and treatments.

The role requires accuracy in coding, strong anatomy/physiology knowledge, and the ability to work independently in a busy office setting.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Medical Coding or CPC certification.
• At least 1 year of medical coding experience.
• Oncology experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
• Excellent typing and 10-key speed and accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Ability to work independently.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Input appropriate diagnostic codes for medical services rendered.
• Ensure codes meet federal, legal, and insurance regulations.
• Assist in monthly evaluations and management audits.
• Translate physician’s diagnosis and treatment plan into codes using approved classification systems.
• Review patient records to determine condition, cause, and treatment.
• Review codes to ensure services performed are fully covered.
• Other duties as assigned.
