Amazing Explorers Academy in New York is hiring a Certified Lead Teacher to implement curriculum and supervise assistant teachers and children in the classroom. The role includes conducting developmental assessments and regular parent meetings to discuss progress.

Candidates should have a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education or state certification and at least two years of classroom experience in an accredited facility.

Qualifications

• Must possess a Bachelors in Early childhood education or equivalent certification accepted by State Department of Education.
• 2 years of classroom teaching experience in an accredited early childhood facility.

• Must be able to interact appropriately with students of all ages and skill levels as well as with parents, coworkers, and management.

Responsibilities

• Ensures appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment of the classroom.
• Completes academy and classroom paperwork (daily notes, accident reports, attendance).
• Attends staff meetings, academy events, and parent meetings.
• Helps and supervises children during all activities.
• Counsels children for social, academic, or adjustment problems.
• Prepares and implements classroom lesson plans, programs, and schedules.
• Develops instructional aids/materials for classroom activities.
• Helps children with meal times and clean-up.
• Ensures equipment is in good working condition and properly maintained.
• Directs activities of other staff to ensure orderly classroom function.
• Communicates information to parents and maintains developmental profiles.
• Schedules and conducts parent/teacher conferences.
• Maintains family information boards and classroom bulletin boards.
• Ensures classroom medication schedule is followed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education or equivalent certification accepted by State Department of Education

2 years classroom teaching experience in accredited early childhood facility

Excellent interpersonal and professional demeanor

Ability to interact with students, parents, coworkers, and management

Job description

The Certified Lead Teacher is responsible for implementing curriculum in the classroom and for the supervision and management of children in the classroom. Must supervise assistant teachers and children in their room, ensuring activities and curriculum are adhered to as required by the Director. Conduct assessments of children to indicate growth and areas of improvement and formal meetings with parents. Guide other team members in gaining an understanding of Amazing Explorers Academy policies, procedures and expectations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensures that the appearance, cleanliness, and safe environment of the classroom are appropriately maintained
• Completes all academy and classroom paperwork, such as daily notes, student accident reports, and attendance reports
• Attends and participates in staff meetings, academy events, and parent meetings as requested
• Helps and supervises children during all activities
• Counsels children when social, academic, or adjustment problems arise
• Prepares and implements classroom lesson plans, programs, and schedules
• Develops, plans, and prepares instructional aids/materials for classroom activities
• Helps children with meal times and clean-up
• Ensures that all classroom and outdoor equipment are in good working condition and are used and maintained properly
• Physically arranges the classroom into well-defined interest areas
• Directs activities of other staff in the classroom to ensure that the classroom functions in an orderly manner
• Communicates appropriate information to parents and maintains developmental profiles for children
• Schedules and conducts parent/teacher conferences throughout the year
• Maintains family information board and other classroom bulletin boards
• Ensures that classroom medication schedule is followed
• Performs other duties as assigned

Job Type: Full-time
