Job summary

The City of Bellingham is seeking qualified applicants for a certified Police Officer. After Police Academy completion, officers advance to Full Performance Police Officer status with a civil service probationary period.

Officers patrol via vehicle, motorcycle, bicycle or on foot, investigate incidents, enforce laws, and engage in community policing. The department offers comprehensive benefits and a structured training path.

Qualifications

• Certified Police Officer status required.
• Completion of Police Academy training.
• Ability to work as part of the Police Department team.

Responsibilities

• Patrols designated areas by foot, car, motorcycle or boat to enforce laws and ordinances.
• Responds to calls, mediates disputes, enforces traffic laws and may arrest individuals.
• Participates in community policing and delivers public education to residents.
• Provides immediate assistance in emergencies, may administer first aid or CPR.
• Leads or participates in special projects requiring experience as a uniformed officer.
