Job summary
El Paso County 911 District is seeking a Plumbing Inspector to enforce municipal, state, and national plumbing and gas codes on construction projects. Under general supervision, you will conduct field inspections, review plans, and communicate code requirements to contractors, architects, and supervisors.
The role requires a high school diploma or GED, two years of journey level or supervisory plumbing experience, and licensure including a Texas Master/Journeyman license and ICC Commercial
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED or higher with two years journey level, master, or supervisory plumbing experience.
- Valid Texas Class C Driver's License; Journeyman or Master Plumber's License required at appointment.
- ICC Certification as Commercial Plumbing Inspector required within six months of appointment.
- Plumbing Inspector License from the Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners required within six months; submission within one month.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field inspections of construction projects to enforce plumbing and gas codes.
- Review plans, materials, layouts and equipment for compliance.
- Explain and interpret plumbing and gas code requirements to project superintendents and others.
- Investigate and respond to complaints; issue stop orders or citations as needed; testify in court or before City boards.
