Job summary

Cottage Health seeks a Certified Phlebotomy Tech (CPT) for the Santa Barbara skilled nursing department. The CPT will perform phlebotomy, specimen processing, and data entry, while maintaining professionalism across diverse patient ages and handling special specimen requests.

Under supervision, you will support lab operations, liaise with clients, and ensure accurate data in Laboratory Information Systems. Personal vehicle use may be required to travel between sites.

Qualifications

• Current California phlebotomy certification.
• GVCH: Valid Class C California Driver License and acceptable driving record.
• Preferred: Associate’s degree or two-year college equivalency.
• Must achieve 90%+ on Data Entry Skills Assessment within 9 months of hire.
• Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy or skin puncture collections for patients from newborn to geriatric.
• Process specimens and manage data entry in LIS/HIS.
• Handle receiving, batching, retrieval, and unreceived specimen list.
• Provide client services and respond to unusual requests.
• Operate automated instrumentation within scope of role.
