Job summary

Trinity Health in Iowa is seeking a full-time Pharmacy Technician to prepare medication orders, deliver medications and IV admixtures to patient rooms and critical care areas, and assist with audits and restocking automated dispensing machines.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED when nationally certified through NHA, or a PTCB national certification which does not require HS diploma; must be registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at hire and complete mandatory abuse training

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED when nationally certified through NHA.
• PTCB nationally certified technicians do NOT require HS diploma or GED.
• Registered with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy at time of hire and proof of.
• Completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training for child and dependent adult abuse within three (3) months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares medication orders.
• Delivers medications and IV admixtures to patient rooms, critical care areas, and other ancillary areas.
• Credits to the patient and restocks usable medications/IVs returned to the pharmacy.
• Assists the pharmacists with audits and completes assigned unit inspections.
• Restocks automated medication dispensing machines.
• Restock stackle boxes and cart inserts (crash carts, airway carts, latex carts), and completes check in/out process.
• Communicates stock utilization and ordering needs.
• Compounds and labels extemporaneous liquid and solid products for patients according to procedure.
• Prepares IV admixtures including TPNs, chemotherapy IVs, IV piggybacks, and syringes following strictly described, specific policies and procedures.
