Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certified as a licensed technician through a certified national program required; must maintain CE to keep license active.
• Vaccination certification required if administering vaccines, as required by law.
• Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy clerk preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service and greet customers with a smile.
• Handle customer inquiries that do not require pharmacist expertise.
• Accept new written prescription orders and telephoned refill requests as allowed.
• Contact doctors' offices to request or confirm refills as needed.
• Gather and maintain patient information to prepare prescriptions.
• Assist pharmacists in preparing prescription drug products for dispensing.
• Prepare labels and prepare prescriptions to be mailed.
• Submit insurance claims and assist with third-party billing.
• File prescriptions after dispensing and report medication errors.
