Job summary

Mount Carmel St. Ann's Hospital, part of Mount Carmel Health System and Trinity Health, seeks a part-time Certified Pharmacy Technician.

The role includes flexible shifts (day/evening/mid) with every other weekend and a weekday shift, under pharmacist supervision to ensure timely dispensing and accurate medication provision. Responsibilities cover sterile/non-sterile compounding, packaging, inventory control, and billing support, using Parata systems and automated cabinets.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Licensure / Certification: Approved Pharmacy Technician Certification; Active Ohio registration.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a working identity with our Pharmacy Team.
  • Receive in-depth training and support team responsibilities.
  • Prepare sterile products (including chemotherapy) using aseptic technique per standards.
  • Prepare non-sterile products (including hazardous medication) per standards.
  • Repackage bulk oral medication using Parata Systems and robots.
  • Facilitate dispensing via Automated Dispensing Cabinets on patient units.
  • Assist in dispensing orders through the pharmacy inventory system.
  • Assist in inventory control and daily departmental ordering; coordinate with Purchasing.
  • Assist in patient billing within the department.

Description:

This part-time opportunity offers schedule flexibility with every other weekend and one weekday shift, along with a variety of day, evening, and mid-shift options. Shift Hours Include:

Day: 6:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Evening: 2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.

Mid Shifts: Varying hours between 10:00 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.

The Certified Pharmacy Tech, will assist the pharmacist in assuring timely and accurate provision of medications to patients. Technician responsibilities are performed under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. These functions may include unit dose dispensing, sterile compounding, non-sterile compounding, medication packaging, inventory control, record keeping and billing, and use of equipment and automated technology.

What You Will Do:
  • Establish a working identity with our Pharmacy Team and continue to build upon our culture
  • Following in depth, role specific training. Team responsibilities include:
  • Preparation of sterile products (including chemotherapy) using aseptic technique, in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Preparation of non-sterile products (including hazardous medication), in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Repackaging of bulk oral medication using our Parata Systems and Medical Packaging Inc robots
  • Facilitating medication dispensing via Automated Dispensing Cabinets on our patient care units
  • Assists in the dispensing of orders/prescriptions through our pharmacy inventory system
  • Assists in inventory control by processing our daily Pharmacy Department order; assuring proper stock rotation, storage and appropriate expiration dating. Escalates medication and non-medication orders to the Purchasing Team
  • Assists the department with proper billing of patients and other units
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: High school graduation or equivalent
  • Licensure / Certification: Approved Pharmacy Technician Certification. Active registration as a Certified Tech with Ohio State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Experience: Previous pharmacy technician experience is preferred
  • Effective Communication Skills
  • Aptitude in mathematical manipulations (ratios, proportions, multiplication, division, decimals, and fractions).
  • A desire to career build, with ambition to elevate their working pharmacy knowledge to the extent of their Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification
