Job summary

Mount Carmel East Hospital, part of Mount Carmel Health, is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to support the pharmacist in timely, accurate medication provision to patients. Under supervision, you will perform sterile and non-sterile compounding, repackaging, and assist with inventory and billing using our pharmacy systems.

The role emphasizes training, teamwork, and adherence to regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Active Ohio Pharmacy Technician Certification/registration.
• Previous pharmacy technician experience preferred.
• Strong communication and mathematical abilities.

Responsibilities

• Establish a working identity with the Pharmacy Team and culture.
• Prepare sterile products using aseptic technique per regulatory standards.
• Prepare non-sterile products including hazardous medications per standards.
• Repackage bulk meds using Parata Systems/robots.
• Assist dispensing via Automated Dispensing Cabinets on patient care units.
• Assist inventory control and daily department ordering; monitor stock rotation and expiration dating.
• Support proper billing of patients and other units.

Employment Type: Part time Shift: Rotating Shift Description: *This position is located at Mount Carmel East Hospital
*Part-time, rotating shifts.

The Certified Pharmacy Tech, will assist the pharmacist in assuring timely and accurate provision of medications to patients. Technician responsibilities are performed under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. These functions may include unit dose dispensing, sterile compounding, non-sterile compounding, medication packaging, inventory control, record keeping and billing, and use of equipment and automated technology.

What You Will Do:

• Establish a working identity with our Pharmacy Team and continue to build upon our culture

• Following in depth, role specific training. Team responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of sterile products (including chemotherapy) using aseptic technique, in compliance with regulatory standards

  • Preparation of non-sterile products (including hazardous medication), in compliance with regulatory standards

  • Repackaging of bulk oral medication using our Parata Systems and Medical Packaging Inc robots

  • Facilitating medication dispensing via Automated Dispensing Cabinets on our patient care units

  • Assists in the dispensing of orders/prescriptions through our pharmacy inventory system

  • Assists in inventory control by processing our daily Pharmacy Department order; assuring proper stock rotation, storage and appropriate expiration dating. Escalates medication and non-medication orders to the Purchasing Team

  • Assists the department with proper billing of patients and other units

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High school graduation or equivalent

• Licensure / Certification: Approved Pharmacy Technician Certification. Active registration as a Certified Tech with Ohio State Board of Pharmacy.

• Experience: Previous pharmacy technician experience is preferred

• Effective Communication Skills

• Aptitude in mathematical manipulations (ratios, proportions, multiplication, division, decimals, and fractions).

• A desire to career build, with ambition to elevate their working pharmacy knowledge to the extent of their Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification
