Job summary

Boston Medical Center Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II for a per diem schedule in the Pharmacy department. The technician will assist in receiving, distribution, inventory management in Pyxis, storage, repackaging, compounding, filling orders, and stocking under supervision.

Qualified candidates will hold a current CPhT certification and MA Pharmacy Technician license, with demonstrated ability in hazardous compounding, HIPAA compliance, and high-quality customer service to patients

• Experience with hazardous compounding is preferred.
• Ability to work in a team and provide high level patient services.

Responsibilities

• Performs hazardous compounding.
• Performs batch sterility tests.
• Monitors at least one Key Performance Indicator or produces at least one Key Process Improvement.
• Assists in revising training materials.
• Demonstrates intermediate skill performance (e.g., purchasing, decentralized services, medication histories, or ADC optimization).
• Complies with HIPAA policies.
• Performs accurate recordkeeping and handoffs for Controlled Substances; reports discrepancies to pharmacist or supervisor.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Working under the day-to-day supervision of the pharmacists and Pharmacy leadership, the Pharmacy Technician is responsible for the proper handling of medications. This includes but is not limited to: receiving, distribution, management of expiration dates, management of inventory in Pyxis, storage, repackaging, compounding, filling orders, delivering, and stocking. Additional and ongoing demonstration of intermediate skills in the practice of pharmacy as defined below are required. The job requires excellent communication skills and a desire to work in a fast-paced environment

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES:

• Performs hazardous compounding
• Performs batch sterility tests
• Monitors at least one Key Performance Indicator or produces at least one Key Process Improvement
• Assists in revising training materials
• Demonstrates intermediate skill performance by performing at least one of the following: intermediate purchasing skills, decentralized pharmacy services, medication histories, or ADC optimization
• Complies with HIPAA policies
• Performs excellent recordkeeping, accuracy, and handoffs when dealing with Controlled Substances, and immediately reports any concerns/discrepancies to pharmacist or supervisor

JOB REQUIREMENTS

CERTIFICATIONS / LICENSURES / REGISTRATIONS:

• CurrentCertified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification and current MA Pharmacy Technician license

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

• Able to perform gloved fingertip and media fill test as required.
• Written and oral communication skills
• Basic math needed for compounding
• Ability to work in a team environment

Compensation Range:

$20.25- $30.10

This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer.
