Job summary

Carepoint Pharmacy is seeking Certified Pharmacy Technicians for a full-time role in Schaumburg, IL. Work includes rotating between customer service calls and prescription processing, with 75+ daily calls and 215+ prescriptions handled on schedule.

The position requires IL Pharmacy Technician License, PTCB/ExCPT certification upon hire, and prior retail pharmacy or insurance processing experience. In-person work with competitive pay and day-one benefits.

Qualifications

• IL Pharmacy Technician License in good standing: Required.
• Certification: (PTCB, ExCPT or Grandfathered): upon hire.
• Experience in retail pharmacy, data entry, processing insurance, prior authorization and adjudication preferred.
• Rotating schedule M-F 7am-7pm.
• One Saturday per month, 9am-3pm.

Responsibilities

• Rotate between customer service calls and processing prescriptions; respond to 75+ calls daily and process 215+ prescriptions daily.
• Ask questions and document information in computer systems.
• Identify issues and communicate solutions to patients, insurance representatives and physicians.
• Verify prescription information in the system for accuracy.
• Follow workflow procedures and coordinate day-to-day medication order processing.
• Expand clinical, technical and insurance knowledge to assist patients effectively.

Position Summary

Certified Pharmacy Technicians help licensed Pharmacists provide medication and other health care products to patients. Technicians usually perform routine tasks to help prepare prescribed medication for patients. Technicians refer any questions regarding prescriptions, drug information, or health matters to a pharmacist or office managers.

Position Responsibilities

Responsibilities of Patient Care Specialist includes, but is not limited to:

• Patient Care Specialists rotate weekly between customer service calls and processing prescriptions. Respond to 75+ incoming calls daily from patients, doctors and insurance representatives on issues related to benefit eligibility questions and prescription status inquiries or process 215+ prescriptions daily; based on assigned schedule for the week.
• Ask appropriate questions and listen actively while documenting required information in computer systems.
• Identify issues and communicate solutions and steps to patients, Insurance representatives and physicians with prescription orders and reorders.
• Validate patient complaints.
• Learn and understand each Carepoint program to properly process.
• Ability to verify that information on the prescription is entered in the system accurately.
• Effectively follow workflow procedures with an in-depth understanding of each department for day-to-day coordination and processing of patient medication orders; manages own responsibilities.
• Seek opportunities to expand clinical, technical and insurance knowledge, leveraging available tools and training resources, to develop the basic drug understanding and technical expertise needed to assist patients accurately and more effectively.
• Performs other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment setting.
