Job summary

Paris Regional Medical Center in Paris, TX is seeking a Pharmacy Technician, PRN, to support intravenous and unit-dose workflows, sterile and non-sterile compounding, and medication delivery across the facility.

As part of the Pharmaceutical Services team, you will assist pharmacists, handle automated dispensing cabinets, and ensure compliance with USP and regulatory standards while delivering compassionate patient care from newborns to the elderly.

Qualifications

  • Active pharmacy technician license or pharmacy technician in training
  • Inpatient hospital experience preferred (1 year)
  • Sterile compounding certification preferred
  • Omnicell and Meditech experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepares intravenous solutions and admixtures following USP and regulatory requirements
  • Assists in filling prescriptions and operates automated dispensing cabinets accurately
  • Supports pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care to patients from newborn to elderly
  • Maintains departmental orderliness and completes required documentation and reports
  • Performs assigned training activities and maintains professional relationships across departments

Position Summary

The pharmacy technician position plays an integral role in medication delivery through automated dispensing cabinet workflows, sterile and non-sterile compounding and quality assurance for all medications delivered in the facility.

Essential Functions
  • Prepares intravenous solutions and admixtures in accordance to USP requirements, state, federal, and other regulatory requirements or standards

  • Assists in filling prescriptions and fills automated dispensing cabinet accurately
  • Assists in filling prescriptions and fills automated dispensing cabinet accurately
  • Prepares select reports and files appropriately as directed by departmental, local, state, and/or federal requirements.
  • Receives and stores incoming deliveries of medication and supplies in correct designated areas
  • Assists the pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care for patients ranging in age from newborn to the elderly
  • Promptly prepares medications and proactively plans for normal operational and individual patient usage with minimal direction from pharmacist.
  • Maintains the Pharmaceutical Services Department in a clean and orderly manner
  • Performs other pharmacy-related duties as requested or required
  • Demonstrates ability to calculate figures and amounts relating to dosage calculations when filing various prescriptions ranging from the newborn to the elderly populations
  • Demonstrates ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral and diagram form
  • Performs assigned training activities, competencies, or learning activities successfully and by assigned deadline
  • Maintains professional, helpful and courteous relationship within the department and with other departments. Demonstrates ability to handle interpersonal conflict utilizing Language of Caring behaviors or utilizing chain of command appropriately
Qualifications
  • Active pharmacy technician or pharmacy technician in training license
  • Sterile compounding certification (preferred)
  • Possesses at least 1 year of inpatient hospital experience (preferred)
  • Omnicell and Meditech experience (preferred)
