Position Overview
Are you a detail-driven Pharmacy Technician who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment? We are partnering with a long-term care pharmacy to hire a Pharmacy Technician & Order Processing Specialist to support prescription intake and order processing for nursing homes and assisted living facilities.
This role plays a critical part in ensuring accurate and timely prescription fulfillment by managing order entry, coordinating with pharmacy and warehouse teams, and serving as a key point of contact for long-term care facility partners. Qualifications and experience are the top priority for this role.
Essential Job Functions
Prescription Order Entry & Processing
- Accurately enter prescription orders and sig codes into the pharmacy processing system (Frameworks)
- Review prescriptions for completeness and accuracy, including patient demographics, medication details, dosage instructions, and prescriber information
- Identify missing, unclear, or inconsistent information and elevate appropriately for resolution
- Ensure orders are processed in compliance with pharmacy regulations, internal policies, and quality standards
Communication & Order Intake
- Handle inbound phone calls from nursing homes and assisted living facilities regarding:
- New prescription orders
- Refills
- Clarifications
- Order status inquiries
- Communicate clearly and professionally with nursing staff to ensure accurate intake and timely processing
- Document all order details and communications thoroughly within the system
- Route completed prescription orders to the warehouse for packing and shipment
- Coordinate with pharmacy, fulfillment, and shipping teams to meet required turnaround times
- Monitor order flow to proactively prevent delays or processing errors
Quality & Compliance
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements at all times
- Demonstrate strong attention to detail in a time-sensitive, high-volume environment
- Support daily pharmacy operations and assist with additional tasks as assigned
- Participate in training initiatives and process improvement efforts as needed
Candidate Requirements
- Previous experience as a Pharmacy Technician or in pharmacy order processing strongly preferred
- Experience working with long-term care pharmacies, nursing homes, or assisted living facilities is a plus
- Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain focus in a fast-paced setting
- Comfortable communicating by phone with clinical and non-clinical partners
- Experience using pharmacy systems; Frameworks experience is a plus
